Rodin Olio Lusso In The Spotlight

RODIN Olio Lusso sprung from when it’s founder, Linda Rodin, started mixing her own oils and handing them out to her friends to try. Word spread about how good they are and Linda built up a brand around them. It’s even said that the surge in popularity of skin oils stems from these. As well as only using the highest quality non synthetic ingredients the design of the products is second to none and I’m sure Glossier have been inspired by it. The brand is now owned by Estee Lauder but Linda’s inspiration still carries through and RODIN continues to be as much of a cult beauty brand as it ever was.

I’ve been trying out a few of the products and here are my thoughts…

The Luxury Lipstick

These are my favourite products out of everything I’ve tried. There were originally 5 shades and another 5 have recently been added. In a way I hope they don’t add many more colours to the collection as I think there’s a benefit of having a tight edit. I also think smaller collections can mean that each shade is the perfect one for it’s colour family and this seems to be the case here i.e. the perfect red, the perfect plum etc.

The lipstick ingredients includes the signature Jasmine and Neroli Oilio Lusso blend along with Rose and Lavender Flower wax, Vitamin C & E and Apricot, Argan and Meadowflower Seed Oils. The texture of the lipstick feels silky smooth and nourishing and the finish is satin. I have Heavenly Hopp, a nude mauve and Berry Baci a muted berry which I’ve been wearing the most.

The Luxury Lipsticks are £28 and available HERE.

Olio Lusso Lavender Hand and Body Cream

In all honesty I didn’t expect to love this as much as I did. I actually find it hard to find good hand creams as I either don’t like the scent or the texture. However, the scent and texture of this one are spot on for me. It’s rich enough to make a real difference to my dry hands but not too oily that if leaves my hands feeling tacky. It contains Lavender Absolute, Shea Butter, Argan Oil, Macadamia Oil, Aloe Leaf Extract and Jojoba Oil. Though it’s supposed to be for the body as well I’m saving this just for my hands.

The Lavender Hand and Body Cream is £45 and available HERE.

Olio Lusso Geranium and Orange Blossom Face Oil

The face oils are the signature products in the range and you can tell a lot of thought and love have gone into them. The texture isn’t too thick so it doesn’t feel heavy on the skin and it sinks in quickly. The advice from Linda is to apply when your skin is still slightly moist after cleansing so as to help lock in moisture and this works well. I’ve also added it to foundation and moisturiser and it really helps with extra skin suppleness. It contains South African Geranium Oil Bourbon and Moroccan Orange Blossom Absolute and the combination smells divine.

The Geranium and Orange Blossom Oil is £60 and available HERE.

Olio Lusso Facial Cleansing Powder

These are granules of Rice Bran with added Jojoba, Sea Algae and Jasmine and Neroli scent. You can choose how you use them i.e. mix them with hardly any water for a thorough exfoliation and add more water for a gentler experience. Undoubtedly this is a lovely product but it hasn’t grabbed me in the same way the others has. I’d describe the other products as being amongst the best in their category and I’m not quite sure if this applies to the cleansing powder.

The Facial Cleansing Powder is £32  and available HERE.
